James Ellis Scarberry, 84, of Nippa, died Thursday, Dec. 11, at his
residence.

Born April 8, 1930, in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Alfred and
Zelcia Scarberry.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Scarberry; a brother, Randall
“Doc” Scarberry; and two sisters, Evie Ellen Scarberry and Nannie Sue
Scarberry.

Survivors include three sons, James Scarberry of Loveland, Ohio, Larry Keith
Scarberry of East Point and Jerry Michael Scarberry of Prestonsburg; six
daughters, Brenda Sue Lemaster of Lowmansville, Deborah Lynn Heuser and
Teresa Rose Burgess, and Linda Jewell Bentley, all of Wittensville, Karen
Faye Salyer of Staffordsville and Marsheila Gaye Baldwin of Leander; a
brother, Ralph Scarberry of River; five sisters, Pansy Daniels of
Elizabethtown, Lessie Stambaugh of Ashland, Jerri Lynch of Georgia, Ruth Ann
Seaton of Elizabethtown and Mayhala Collier of Irvine; 16 grandchildren; and
14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 15, at Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel, with
Buddy McKenzie, and Larry Blair officiating.

Burial was in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under direction of
Jones-Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
