John A. Scott, 35, died Monday, Oct. 22, at his Van Lear residence.
  
Mr. Scott was born December 8, 1954, in Carter County, the son of
Theodore Scott, Jr., and Irene Lowe Scott.  He was employed in the
maintenance department of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was a
veteran of the U.S. Army.
  
Surviving are his mother; his wife, Cathy Williams Scott; one son,
Jonathan Scott; two brothers, Jerry Scott of Paintsville and Jim Scott
of Grayson; and two sisters, Terri Williams and Suzanne Stambaugh, both
of Van Lear.
  
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 26, at 11 a.m., in
Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel, with Elmo Sturgill officiating.
  
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
