JAMES WILLIAM ADAMS
1930-2006

James William Adams, 75, of Paintsville, departed this life on
Friday, April 28, 2006, from injuries he received in an automobile
accident.

He was born in Catlettsburg, Ky., on Aug. 3, 1930, to Ted and
Almas Howes Adams. His father preceded Mr. Adams in death. He is
survived by his mother; his spouse of 52 years, Marilyn Litteral
Adams; two children, James W. Adams II (Joy) of Russell and
Margaret A. (Tim) Hazlette of Nicholasville; four grandchildren,
Thomas P. Hazlette of Paintsville, Emily Carolyn Hazlette of
Nicholasville, Jon-Marc Adams of Maysville and James William Adams
III of Maysville; brothers Charles (Polly) Adams of Ashland and
Ted Douglas (Sammie) Adams of Yorba Linda, Calif.; and sisters
Lois (Clyde) George of Prestonsburg and Ruth (Harry) Moberly of
Richmond, Ky.

Mr. Adams was a lifetime member of First Christian Church in
Paintsville where he was an elder. Mr. Adams worked more than 50
years in the hardware and supply industry, retiring from Wallace
Hardware Co. of Tennessee. He was active in the Johnson County
Republican Party, serving as chairman from 1971 to 1979.

Visitation will be at Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville
from 2:30 to 9 p.m. today, May 1. Funeral services will be at
First Christian Church in Paintsville at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 2,
with burial in Highland Cemetery in Staffordsville.

Pallbears will be Ted George, Jon-Marc Adams, James W. Adams III,
Thomas Hazlette, Dennis Walker and Scott Hazlette.

Honorary pallbearers will include the present and past members of
the First Christian Church Board, colleagues at Wallace Hardware,
the Honorable Stephen N. Frazier and Rep. Harry Moberly Jr.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to
First Christian Church, 514 Main St., Paintsville, KY 41240.
