Denis Akers, 77, of Paintsville, died Sunday, Aug. 5, at Paul B. Hall Medical
Center.
Born Sept. 6, 1934, at Craynor, he was the son of the late Sie and Rosie
Howell Akers. He was a member of the West Van Lear Freewill Baptist Church
and worked for Ford Motor Company.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Viola Calhoun Akers.
Survivors include a son, Larry Akers of Paintsville; a daughter, Lena Gullett
of Staffordsville; a brother, Quintin Akers of Flint, Mich.; a grandchild;
and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Preston Funeral
Home Chapel, with Lee Music officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, under direction of
Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
