IDA AKERS
1894-1975
Mrs. Ida Whitaker Akers, 81, of East Point, died at her home,
Wednesday, April 9 1975.
The daughter of the late Martin and Angaline Yates Whitaker, she
was born November 27, 1894.
Mrs. Akers was a member of the Bonanza United Baptist Church and
had been preceded in death by her husband, Robert Whitaker. [[This
probably should read Robert Akers]]
Surviving are one son, John Akers of Orlando, Florida; four
daughters, Edna Milam, Ambie Smith and Lucy Carpenter, all of East
Point, and Josephine Gibson of Deedsville, Indiana; one sister,
Sadie Whitaker, of East Point; 26 grandchildren and 13 great-
grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Akers were held April 12 in the Lick
Fork United Baptist Church with Elders Paris Music, Richard
Sheppard and Lemuel Williams officiating.
Burial was in the Akers Family Cemetery at East Point with
arrangements under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
