JESSE L. AKERS

World War I veteran Jessse L. Akers, 78, died Friday, August 8 in
Prestonsburg General Hospital, at Prestonsburg, after an illness of one year.
 
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, August 12 in the chapel of the
Preston Funeral Home with Reverend Frank Spillman officiating.
 
Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
 
The Preston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
 
Born at Whitehouse on January 21, 1891, he was the son of the late George and
Jane Wells Akers. A retired Civil Service Worker, he was a resident of
Whitehouse and was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
 
Survivors include his wife, the former, Louise Perry, whom he married on June
27, 1958 at West Van Lear; two sons, Vernon C. Akers of Spokane, WA and
Robert L. Akers of Napa, CA; three sisters, Miss Dorothy Akers, Miss Olive
Akers and Miss Eula Akers all of Portland, OR; four grandchildren and three
great grandchildren.
