Oil Springs resident Ennie F. Blanton, 79, died Thursday, July 3,
1997  at Columbia Hospital in Lexington.

Mr. Blanton was born June 6, 1918, in Magoffin County, to the late
Grover and Cynthia Blanton.

He was a pipefitter and member of the Oil Springs Freewill Baptist
Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Lemaster Blanton; two sons, David Keith
Blanton of Flatwoods and John Cochran of Cincinnati, Ohio; five
daughters, Sherry Lynn Tierney of Ashland, Ohio, Lois Williams of
Swamp Branch, Pat Swisher of Ashland, Ohio, Cathy Cottle of
Wilmington, North Carolina, and Debra Keeton of Salyersville; four
brothers, Edgar, Hassel and Oakley Blanton, all of Staffordsville,
and Nick Blanton of West Liberty; three sisters, Judy Blanton of Oil
Springs, Louise Blanton of Salyersville and Lexie Gullett of Ashland;
and 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 6 at Oil Springs Freewill
Baptist Church, with Keith Horn, Dick VanHoose and Wayne Meade Jr.
officiating.

Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, with Jones-
Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
