NELLIE BLANTON
1911-2013
Nellie Pennington Blanton, 101, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away at
1:39 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013.
She was born August 30, 1911 in Johnson County, daughter of the late
Willie and Meda Jackson Pennington.
She was married to her husband, Hayes Blanton, March 12, 1930 and they
were married for 61 years. He preceded her in death November 9, 1991.
Nellie was a member of the Oil Springs Free Will Baptist Church in Oil
Springs for many years. She enjoyed making quilts and was a hard
worker all of her life.
Survivors include one daughter, Jean Conley of Oil Springs; one son
and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Sue Blanton of Springfield; three
grandchildren, Nina Conley of Lexington, Sherri Teets (Dave Mullen) of
South Vienna, Ohio, and Jason (Jill) Blanton of Springfield; and four
great-grandchildren, Braden, Katlynn, Kennedy, and Kendall. Along
with her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister,
Stella Blanton; two brothers, Arthur and Estill Pennington; and her
son-in-law, Harold D. Conley.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 18 at the funeral
home. Pastor Tommy Spradlin officiated.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 19 at the Highland
Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville with burial to follow.
