PATRICK H. BORDERS
1888-1974


Patrick H. Borders, 85, of Paintsville, died at his home on Walnut Avenue
last Friday, July 5, following an illness of several weeks. The son of the
late Bracken and Frances Conley Borders, he was born July 7, 1888.

Mr. Borders had been employed as a teacher, salesman and merchant and had
served in the office of police judge for the city of Paintsville. He was also
a commissioned Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Cindy Conley Borders, one son,
Stanley Borders of Madison, VA, three daughters, Mrs. Estalena Blair, Mrs.
Mavis Patrick and Mrs. Opal Bentley, all of Paintsville, nine grandchildren,
six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, four brothers, Dixon
Borders and Coy Borders of Salyersville, Manuel Borders of Paintsville and
Bascom Borders of Cyrus and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Tackett of Wheelersburg.

Funeral services for Mr. Borders were held Monday, July 8, in the First
Freewill Baptist church on Third Street in Paintsville with arrangements
under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.

The grandsons served as pallbearers.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Arthur Pope, County Judge Bill Ward, Roy
Melvin, Herbert Castle, R. B. Harrington, James Meek and Jimmy Garnett.
