OSCAR BRAFFORD
1912-1985
Retired miner Oscar Brafford, 73, died Wednesday, September 4 in Mt. Manor
Nursing Home in Pikeville following an extended illness.
Mr. Brafford was born May 26, 1912 in Pike County, the son of Lee and Mary
Mullins Brafford. He was a resident of East Point and a member of Katyfriend
Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviivng are his wife, Griselda Meade Brafford, who he married August 22,
1931 in Weeksbury; two sons, James Brafford of Hurst, TX and Charles Brafford
of East Point; a brother, Paul Brafford of Virgie; four sisters, Daisy Damron
of Robinson Creek, Easter Hamilton of Pikeville, Hazel Tackett of Conyers, GA
and Juanita Damron of Virgie; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 8 in Preston Funeral Home Chapel
with James Elkins and Woodrow Mullins officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
