Sam Centers, 90, died Sunday, January 14, at his Paintsville residence after
an extended illness.
 
Born Oct 2, 1888 in Floyd County, son of John and Mary Blair Centers, he was
a retired painter and miner and a member of the First Freewill Baptist
church, Paintsville.
 
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Hazlett Centers; four daughters, Mrs. Herbert
Arms, Hager Hill, Mrs. Glenn Webb, Southside, Mrs. Campbell Underwood,
Porter, OH, and Mrs. Franklin Lancaster, Frankfort; two half-sisters, Mrs.
Willie Yates, Williamson, WV, and Mrs. Belle Duncan, TN; a half brother, John
Centers, Thealka; 31 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 6 great-
great grandchildren.
 
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan 17, in the First Freewill
Baptist church, Paintsville, with Revs. C.C. Hall and Norman Roberts
officiating.
 
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville with Jones-Preston
Funeral Home handling arrangements.
