WALTER CLAY
1915-1989
Walter "Cobb" Clay, 73, died Wednesday, January 4, in Paul B. Hall Regional
Medical Center.
Mr. Clay was born November 13, 1915 in Johnson County, the son of John Clay
and Alka Stricklin Clay.
He was retired from the state highway department, a veteran of World War II
(Navy), and at one time served as both a president and vice president of
Paintsville Little League.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Carpenter Clay; one son, Walter Douglas Clay of
Staffordsville, one daughter Dianna Sue Unberecker, of Colorado Springs, CO;
one sister, Mae Conley of Paintsville, 5 grandchildren and one great
grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday January 7 in Southside Freewill Baptist
Church with Eddie Young officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville with Paintsville DAV
Chapter 136 performing military rites.
Jones-Preston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
