AMANDA COLLINS
1923-2009
Funeral services were held June 22, at 3 p.m. in the Jones -Preston Funeral
Home Chapel for Amanda Collins, 86, of Prestonsburg, formerly of Nippa, who
passed away June 20 at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.
She was born April 15, 1923, in Floyd County, daughter of the late Cyrus
Spencer and Dosha Marshell. She was a retired certified nurses’ assistant.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Collins.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Dempsey Collins, River, and Henry
Darrell Collins, Louisville; one daughter, Mimi Howard, Paintsville; one
brother, Jasper Spencer, Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Cynthia Hayden, Rusha
Branham and Shirley George, all of Columbus; and six grandchildren, 12 great
grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
The service was conducted by J. R. Frisby with burial in Highland Memorial
Park Cemetery, Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
