JOHN ERNEST COOPER

Paintsville businessman John Ernest Cooper, 62, died Thursday, August 9, in
Paintsville Hospital.
 
Mr. Cooper was born December 8, 1916 in Johnson County, the son of John H.
and Vermilia Julia Preston Cooper.
 
He was owner of East Kentucky News, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and
the First United Methodist Church.
 
He was past president of Rotary Club, past chairman and eight year member of
Paintsville Independent School Board of Education and past chairman of the
Masonic Lodge.
 
Surviving are his wife, Faye Maggard Cooper; 3 sons, John Mark Cooper or
Orlando, Fl, Robin Thomas Cooper and Gregory Maggard Cooper of Paintsville; a
daughter Jill Cooper Sawyer of Louisville; a brother, Roger Thomas Cooper of
Paintsville, and a sister Victoria cooper Mceldoweny of Charleston, WV.
 
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 11, in First United Methodist
Church with Graham Abbott officiating.
 
Serving as active pallbearers were Bill Bailey, J. B. Wells, Sid Garland,
Charles T. Melvin, O. T. Dotson, Jim Stan Maggard, Eric VanHoose, and Bill
Stafford, and Gene Deskins and Paul Ratliff, alternates. Honorary pallbearers
were the mens Bible class, Rotary Club and Bob Montgomery.
