Mrs. Miriam Cox, 71, died Tuesday, Jan 17, in Paintsville Hospital following
a brief illness.
 
Mrs. Cox was born Sep 4, 1906 in Johnson Co., the daughter of Warren and
Laura Preston. She was a resident of Paintsville, a member of the First
Baptist Church and former director of the Johnson Co., Senior Citizens
Program.
 
Her husband, Byrd W. Cox preceded her in death Nov 27, 1967.
 
Surviving are two sons, Paul W. Cox, Urbana, IL and Andrew B. Cox,
Louisville; four sisters, Mrs. Geneva Picklesimer, Whitesburg, Mrs. Elizabeth
Rusmiselle, Louisville, Mrs. Roberta Ziegler and Mrs. Elouise Niederkirchner,
both of NY; three brothers, Charles Preston, Milford, OH, Gaylord Preston,
Schenectady, NY, Chester Preston, Cincinnati, OH; and one grandson, Neal Cox,
Louisville.
 
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan 20, at the First Baptist Church in
Paintsville with Dr. Charles Milam officiating.
 
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville with Paintsville
Funeral Home handling arrangements.
 
Serving as pallbearers were Roy E. Lemasters, L. B. Lemaster, Gene Graves,
Bill Borders, Tom Raymond King, James Heber Conley, Frelan Bradbury, Sid
Garland and Clyde Blevins.
