MARTIN DUNCAN
1867-1960


Martin Duncan, 93, former resident of West Van Lear, died in an Ashland
Hospital at 8:25 a.m. Friday September 23 1960.

The son of the late James and Martha Johnson Duncan, he was born in this
county July 31 1867, and had lived in Ashland for the past eight years.
He was a member of the Missioonary Baptist Church and engaged in farming
pior to his retirement.

His wife, Sarah Elliott Duncan, preceded him in death.

Survivors include a son, Frank Duncan, Mobile, Alabama; five daughters,
Mrs.Eva McCaskey, Cynthiana; Mrs. Clara Mat, Huntington, W. Va.; Mrs.
Elden Stoll, Camp Hill, Pa.; Mrs.Carman Roberts of this city; Mrs. Mary
Jones, Ashland; 17 grandchildren, and 10 great-great- grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday from the West Van
Lear Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. J.C. Hager as officiating
minister.

Grandsons acting as pallbearers were, Harry Lee Mays, Carman Roberts Jr.,
Ralph Roberts, Dan Roberts, Billy Roberts, and Eddie Judy.

Burial was in the Cumbo Cemetery at West Van Lear.
