Earl Gene Oney, 81, of Mt. Sterling, died Monday, Dec. 3, at Greg and Noreen
Wells Hospice Care Center, Hazard.
Born Oct. 9, 1931, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Orville Earl
and Dixie Colvin Oney. He was a member of the East Point Church of Christ, a
coal miner and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Tommy Joe Oney.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Ann Hale Oney; two sons, Gerald Lee Oney
and Ricky Gene Oney, both of Sharpsburg; a brother, Rodney Oney of East
Point; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, Dec. 6, at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel,
with Aaron Davis officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under direction of
Jones-Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
