Brother Wendell Osborn, 59, , the son of the late J. H. and Neva Evans
Osborn, was born July 22, 1924 at Red Bush, KY and Passed away August 4,
1983, at St. Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness.
 
He leaves his wife, Mary Ellen Ison Osborn, two daughters, Mrs. Sharon
Carpenter of Tipp city, OH and Mrs. Wendella Karen Douvall of Ashland, a
sister, Mrs. Jeanine Walengar of Centerville, OH, two granddaughters, Sara
Duvall and Kendra Carpenter and a host of friends and relatives.
 
Brother Wendell was employed as a pipe fitter.
 
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre. He
was a past State Commander and life member of the Disabled American Veterans
and a member of the Flat Gap Masonic Lodge. After moving to Ashland, he
became a member of the Oak Springs United Baptist Church where he proved his
love for the church and his devotion to the cause of Christ by his daily
walk. He had served the church as trustee for the past several months. We
feel that those who knew Brother Wendell’s life, as we were blessed to, are
the better for it, and that our loss is truly Heaven’s gain.
 
The funeral was conducted under direction of the Miller Funeral Home at the
Oak Springs United Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday by Elders Walter
Pelphrey, Tommy Bailey and Arthur Breeding.
 
Graveside services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. at the Highland Memorial Park
at Staffordsville by Elders Paul Keaton and Jerry Brown. Pallbearers were
Charles Ison, James P. Ison, Bart Ison, Walter Franklin, Jr., Homer Skaggs,
Ron Royster, Greg Dames, John Leonard Ison, Lowell Bailey and Paul Evans.
