George Chad Perry III, 81, of Paintsville, died Thursday,
Nov. 4, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center, Paintsville.
 
Born April 21, 1929, in Johnson County, he was the son of the late George C.
Perry II and Eula Perry Preston. He was an attorney.
 
Survivors include his wife, Julianne "Judy" Perry; and a brother, Richard L.
Perry of Lexington.
 
Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Jones-Preston Funeral Home, with
burial in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under direction of Jones-
Preston Funeral Home.

G. Chad Perry III, age 81, noted Paintsville attorney, passed away Thursday,
Nov. 4, at Paul B. Hall Medical Center, Paintsville.
 
Mr. Perry was born April 21, 1929, in Johnson County, son of the late George
C. Perry II and Eula Preston Perry.
 
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Julianne "Judy" Williams Perry, whom
he married on Nov. 10, 1957. Also surviving are, a brother, Richard L. Perry
and wife Phoebe of Lexington; two nephews, Stewart Perry, and Jimmy Perry;
and a niece, Leeann Hadden, all of Lexington.
   
Mr. Perry graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in
February, 1951. He immediately entered the military service and 2-1/2 years
later left the U.S.A.F. as First Lieutenant assigned to the Judge Advocate.
He continued in the U.S.A.F. Reserves for the next 25 years and has been a
practicing attorney in Paintsville for 50 plus years. During that time he has
on two occasions served extended periods of time as City Attorney; been
elected to the City Council; and lectured on administrative law to continuing
education groups at both the University of Kentucky and the University of
Louisville. He was a member of the Lafferty Society of the University of
Kentucky College of Law; has served on the University College of Law Visitors
Board and currently is a member of the visiting committee of the College of
Law. He was class agent for the College of Law Class of 1951. Many years
served as Liaison Officer to the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado
Springs, Colorado from Kentucky. Mr. Perry was a University of Kentucky
Fellow for over 25 years. He has on occasions served as a special Circuit
Judge. Mr. Perry was elected an Advocate of the American Board of Trial
Advocates in 1987. He was a Director of the Bank of Blaine, Blaine, and Vice-
President and Director of the People's Security Bank of Louisa; on the Board
of First National Bank of Paintsville, Kentucky; received Honorary Doctorate
from Pikeville College, 2001; elected Outstanding Private Citizen of the Year
by Eastern Kentucky Leadership Conference, 2000; Board Member of Pikeville
College, Pikeville; Board Member of Appalachian School of Law and Pharmacy,
Grundy, Va.; former member of University of Kentucky, Alumni Hall of Fame,
2006, and Kentucky Wesleyan College, Alumni Hall of Fame, 2007, and was on
the Board of Directors of Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center.
 
Active pallbearers were Michael Endicott, Tommy Hall, John Kevin Holbrook,
Jimmy Ray Key, James Richard Pelphrey, and Jason Rice, D.O.
 
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. John Jones, Dr. Loey Kousa, Dr. Roger Meade,
Dr. David Herr, Will Arnold, D.O., James Clay, D.O., Clay Hall, D.O., Dan
Hall, D.O., Mayor Bob Porter, Stephen Nick Frazier, Stanley Messer, Jack
Ross, and the Johnson County Bar Association.
 
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 9th, at Jones-Preston
Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Robert Coppings officiating.
 
Entombment followed in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under
direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
