DENZEL PHELPS
1925-1998
Denzel Phelps, 72, of Ft. Myers, Fla., died Tuesday, March 31,
1998, at South West Regional Medical Myers, Fla.
He was born November 11, 1925, in Johnson County, the son of
Bruce Phelps and Laura Webb.
He was the district manager for the Southland Corporation and a
veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Phelps; and his
wife, Bonnie Jean Phelps, who died March 31, 1998.
He is survived by two sons, James Phelps of Indianapolis, Ind.;
David Phelps of Richmond; and one step-son, Ronnie Stambaugh of
Lake Placid, Fla.; one, daughter, Denise Nelson of Ft. Myers,
Fla.; one step-daughter, Sherolyn Howard of Louisa; one brother,
Bruce Alvis Phelps of Southshore; two sisters, Martalene Preston
of Williamsport and Ernestine Blair of Clarksville, Tenn.; and
11 grandchildren; and one great- grandchild.
Services were April 6, of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel
with Dave Flannery officiating.
Burial was at the Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville.
