ARBIE PORTER
1897-1985
West Van Lear resident Arbie Porter, 87, died March 19, 1985,
Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Porter was born March 28,
1897, in Johnson County, the son of John and Mary Porter.
He was a retired miner and a member of the Freewill Baptist
Church.
Surviving are his wife, Dixie Williamson Porter; two sons, AL
Porter, Jr. of Waverly, Ohio, and EB Porter of Cummings, GA; three
step-sons, Jeffery Adams of Radcliffe, KY, Eulas Perry, of Blair,
W.VA., and Prince Perry, of Lake, W.VA., a daughter Vineda Crum
Driggs of Elyria,Ohio; a step-daughter, Ivory Hill of Pinson Fork,
KY; a sister, Martha Perry of West Van Lear; five grandchildren,
16, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held March 23, in Jones-Preston Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Larry Smith officiating.
Burial was in Ward Cemetery at Williamsport.
