JESSE PORTER
1912-1969
Jessie Chandler Porter, wife of Johnson County school superintendent, Virgil
Porter, succumbed at her home on Second Street on Monday night.
Mrs. Porter, 57, a former teacher in Paintsville schools, had been in poor
health for an extended period.
Mr. Porter was away from the city on business, and arrangements were being
delayed until his return.
The Porters have two sons, John and Joseph, both in college. Mrs. Porter also
is survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary Chandler of Paintsville, two brothers,
Paintsville businessman, Escom Chandler and James Chandler of Fort
Lauderdale, FL, and two sisters, Mrs. Emily Lyons of Frankfort and Mrs.
William R. Trippe of Sea Grit, NJ. The Jones-Preston Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.
