JAMES MELVIN POWERS
1927-1976
James Melvin Powers, 48, died Thursday, February 12, in the St. Mary’s
Hospital in Huntington, WV after a brief illness.
He was the son of Jim and Allie Rice Powers and was born June 28, 1927 in
Magoffin County.
A resident of Paintsville, he was self- employed as a general contractor.
He was a member of the Paintsville Lodge 381 F & AM, the El Hasa Shrine and a
veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his mother, Allie Powers, a son and a daughter, James Clyndon
and Carol Jean.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 15, in the Mayo Methodist Church
with Reverends Sam Glenn and Woody Church officiating.
Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville with Jones-Preston
Funeral Home handling arrangements.
