JOHN REED
1910-1983
Funeral services were held February 8 in Third Street Freewill
Baptist Church for John Reed, 72. Mr. Reed died February 5 in
Cabell-Huntington Hospital.
He was born November 12, 1910, the son of Wilburn and Mary
VanHoose Reed.
He was a resident of Red Bush, a retired miner, and a member of
the Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel VanHoose Reed; four sons, James
Don of Red Bush, Paul of Van Lear, William Howard of Sitka and
Charles Darrell of West Van Lear; three daughters, Lillian
Gamble, Red Bush, Wanda McKenzie, Staffordsville, and Wilma Lee
Collins, Prestonsburg; a sister, Mrs. Moncie Blair, Jackson,
Ohio; 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
John Frank Ratliff, Larry Smith and Lonza Reed officiated at
services with burial in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville.
Jones-Preston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
