LONZA REED
1901-2004

Elder Lonza Reed, 101, of Flat Gap, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, 101 at
St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.

Born Aug. 2, 1902, in Manila, he was a son of the late Asa J.
and Elizabeth Gullett Reed.

He was a farmer, served as Johnson County Court Clerk for 8
years and clerk of the Johnson County Fiscal Court, past member
of Paintsville Kiwanis Club, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of
Paintsville Masonic Lodge 381 F&AM.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Reed; and a son,
Arnold Reed.

Survivors include five sons, Herschel Reed of Whitley City,
James L. Reed of Orlando, Fla., Edward Reed of Flat Gap, Danny
Reed of Greensboro, Md., and Sammy Reed of Oil Springs; four
daughters, Adaline Fannin of Jackson, Ohio, Boneva Stapleton of
Volga, Helen Kelly of Keaton, and Judy Bowen of Flat Gap; 23
grandchildren; 35 great- grandchildren; and 13 great-great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 12, at Fishtrap United
Baptist Church with Elders Frankie Williams, Danny Williams, and
Melvin Wright officiating.

Burial was in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under
direction of Paintsville Funeral Home.
