ALGER RICE
1897-1968
West Van Lear resident Alger Rice, 71, died Sunday, August 11 at his
home after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 15 in the Liberty Baptist
Church at Denver with Rev. John Sammons officiating.
Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Park.
The Jones- Preston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A retired farmer, he was born in Johnson County on June 13, 1897, the son of
the late George W. and Sarah C. Blair Rice. He was a member of the Liberty
Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Bertha Rivers Rice; two sons,
Harold M. of Paintsville and Arnold Lee of Dayton, OH; five grandchildren
and a brother, Archie Rice of Staffordsville.
