Oil Springs resident, Hurschell Rice, 78, died Thursday, October 29 in
University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Mr. Rice was born November 20, 1913 in Johnson County, the son of the late
Fred and Georgann Pennington Rice. He was retired from the State of
Kentucky Highway Department and Johnson County Maintenance.

He was also a retired oil well driller and a World War II veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Faye Clark Rice; two sons, James and Jerry Rice,
both of Oil Springs, two daughters, Janice Rice of Oil Springs and Jeannie
Stapleton of Staffordsville; three brothers, Arnold Rice of Salyersville,
Earl Rice of Oil Springs and Roosevelt Preston; two sisters, Alka Whitt
and Allie Powers, both of Paintsville; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 1 in Jones-Preston Funeral
Home Chapel with Dick VanHoose ant T. E. Montgomery officiating.

Burial was in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville.
