Ed Russell, 94, died Tuesday, December 23, in Mountain Manor Nursing Home,
Prestonsburg, after an extended illness.
 
Born July 29, 1886, in Lawrence County, he was the son of David and Laura
Miller Russell.
 
He was a resident of Van Lear; a retired miner, and a member of the
Philadelphia Church of Christ and vice president of UMWA at Van Lear.
 
Surviving are his wife, Rose Haus Russell, who he married September 2, 1915
in Catlettsburg; two sons, Luther Russell, West Van Lear, and Ed Russell,
Jr., St. Clare Shores, MI, a daughter Elizabeth Russell Little, Bypro, KY,
one brother, Ran Russell, Lebanon, OH, six grandchildren and eight great
grandchildren.
 
Funeral services were held Friday, December 26, in Preston Funeral Home
Chapel with Bill Ford officiating.
 
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, with Preston Funeral
Home in charge of arrangements. Serving as pallbearers were Bobby Branham,
Danny Davis, Steve Little, Luther Russell, Jr., Roger Russell, and Jerry
Simpson.
