HARRY B.SALYER
1889-1959

Harry B. Salyer, 69, well-known resident of Volga, died in a local
hospital Wednesday, February 11, at 11:35 a.m., following an
illness of several months.

The son of Manford and Mary Bunyard Salyer, he was born September
3, 1889, at Volga and had lived in that community most of his
life, having resided for a few years at Wittensville.

He was a minister of the Pentecostal Church and prior to his
retirement had been employed by the Louisville Gas and Electric
Company for forty-two years.

His first marriage was to Hester Sturgill, who preceded him in
death. His second marriage was to Belle Mays, who survives.

Other survivors include four sons, Eugene, Ashland; Eugil, Lorain,
Ohio; Harry Russell of this city; Leroy Salyer, Lorain, Ohio; one
daughter, Betty Jo Wolf, Lorain, Ohio; four brothers, Cline
Salyer, Paintsville; Arthur Salyer, LaGrange; Haston Salyer,
Ashland; two stepsisters, Mrs. Sally B. Wheeler of this city and
Mrs. John K. Cantrell of Flat Gap.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 Saturday morning February
14, from the Southside Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. E. H.
Overman, Ellis Hamilton, Woodrow White and E. L. Cyrus as
officiating ministers. Music was by the Toms Creek Quartet
accompanied by Joe Hall. Solo by Mrs. H. L. McKenzie, Jr.,
accompanied by James Cox.

Burial was in the family cemetery at Flat Gap.
