Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 23, in Jones-Preston Funeral Home
Chapel for Ralph Salyer, 71.
 
Mr. Salyer died Sunday, July 20, in Paintsville Hospital. He had been in
failing health several years.
 
He was born June 11, 1909, near Hood in Lawrence County, and was a son of
James Salyer and Belle Zora Castle Salyer. He was preceded in death by his
parents, three brothers and one sister.
 
Surviving are his wife, Eunice Rice Salyer, Riverview manor Nursing Home,
Prestonsburg, and one daughter, Mrs. John Derucki, Clyde, OH, and four
nieces, two grandsons and one great grandson.
 
Mr. Salyer had been employed many years by Consolidation Coal Company, Van
Lear, later working for Oliver Jenkins Drilling Company and at the time of
his retirement was employed by Paintsville Utilities Company.
 
Rev. Charles Milam of the First Baptist Church officiated at the services
and burial was at the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville.
 
Pallbearers were Alton Songer, Jess Songer, J. P. Short and Phillip Blanton.
