CECIL SAMMONS
1918-1999

Retired miner Cecil Sammons, 80, died Monday, June 21, 1999 at
Mountain Manor Nursing Home.

Mr. Sammons was born August 12, 1918, in Johnson County, to the
late John and Minnie Price Sammons.

He was a member of Rockhouse Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Eula B. Horne Sammons; one son, Edward
Sammons of Montville, New Jersey; two stepsons, Johnnie and
Jerry McCarty, both of Meally; four daughters, Marlene Izetta of
Tafton, Pennsylvania, Levetta Sneathen of Blue Springs,
Missouri, Sharon Hill of Cypress, Texas, and Retta Sue Markham
of Houston, Texas; two stepdaughters, Jackie Crum of
Williamsport and Nellie Ratliff of Marion, Ohio; and six
grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nine step-grandchildren and
nine step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 24; at Rockhouse
Freewill Baptist Church, with Richard Williams and Keith Horne
officiating.

Burial Was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, with
Jones-Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
