Violet G. Wilcox Skaggs, 85, of Lowmansville, died Thursday, Sept. 20, at
King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland.
Born March 5, 1927, in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late
Everett and Grace Stanley Wilcox. She was a postmistress at Lowmansville.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Buell Skaggs; a brother,
Everett Edward Wilcox; a sister, Jean Conley; and a granddaughter.
Survivors include two sons, John Skaggs and Keith Skaggs, both of
Lowmansville; a daughter, Sandra Lynn Jennings of Napoleon, Ohio; three
sisters, Phoebe Womack of Wittensville, Helen Stricklin of Mansfield, Ohio,
and Opal Chandler of Springfield, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and nine great-
grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sunday, Sept. 23, at Jones-Preston Funeral Home
Chapel, with Bill Staten and John Skaggs officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under direction of
Jones-Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
