Eliza Katherine Hurd Sluss, 71, of West Van Lear died Sunday, March
31, 2002 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington.

Born June 13, 1930, in Floyd County, she was a daughter of the late
Isom and Worlie Click Hurd.

She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Sluss.

Survivors include three sons, Billy Sluss of Colorado, Steven Sluss
of Paintsville and Jerry Sluss of Staffordsville; five daughters,
Nancy Alger of Lexington, Margie Sirk of Huntington, Ind., Donna
Williams of Indiana, Phyllis Goodwin of Orange Park, Fla., and Mary
Fannin of Morehead; six brothers, Gradin, Ramzie, and Gary Hurd,
all of Indiana, Shular Hurd of Ivel, Don Hurd of Arizona and Joe Ed
Hurd of Tennessee; a sister, Mary Spencer of Ohio; 20
grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 3, in the
Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, Paintsville.

Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery,
Staffordsville, under direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home,
Paintsville.
