STEVE SLUSS
1928-1997

West Van Lear reside Steve Sluss, 69, died Saturday June 21 1997.

Mr. Sluss was born January 16, 1928, in Johnson County, to the late
Dave and Lou Mayhan Sluss.

He was a retired miner.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Bryan Sluss; two
brothers, Frank and Henry Sluss; and two sisters, Sadie Meek and
Nervie Dollarhide.

Surviving are his wife, Eliza Katherine Hurd Sluss; three sons,
Steve Sluss of Paintsville, Jerry Sluss of Staffordsville; and
Billy Joe Sluss of St. Joe, Missouri; five daughters, Margie Sirk
of Oil Springs, Mary Fannin of West Van Lear, Phyllis Goodwin of
Jacksonville, Florida, Donna Haynes of Huntington, Indiana, and
Nancy Alger of Lexington; two brothers, Jim and Dave Sluss, both of
West Van Lear; four sisters, Pearl Spears of Auxier, and Mary
Porter, Nettie McKenzie; and Nancy Pelphrey, all of, Wabash,
Indiana; and 20 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 24, at Jones Preston
Funeral Home Chapel, with Jimmy McKenzie and Lee Music Jr.
officiating.

Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
