HOMER FRANKLIN SMITH
1911–2002
Funeral services were held Monday, November 25, 1 p.m. at Jones-Preston
Funeral Home for Homer Franklin “Smitty” Smith, 91, who passed away
Saturday, November 23 at Woodland Care Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Mr. Smith was born September 25, 1911 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late
Marion and Dora Rife Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie
Spradlin Smith.
Surviving are one son, Lynn Pat Smith of River; five daughters, Virginia Ann
Castle of Ashland, Mary Smith Blevins of Meally, Jo Ann Gamblin of Welaka,
Fla., Alice E. Jones of South Carolina, and Darlene K. Hinkle of Meally; one
step-daughter, Charlene Spence; one cousin, Russell Saunders of Ironton,
Oh.; one niece Edith Smith Faulks of Gallipolis, Oh.; 14 grandchildren; 11
great- grandchildren.
The service was officiated by James Kelly Caudill, with burial following in
Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Staffordsville.
