MERRIL SMITH
1919-1989
Merril Smith, 69, died Wednesday, May 3, in Lynchburg, VA. Mr. Smith was
born September 12, 1919 in Johnson County, the son of Kay Smith and Lillie
Davis.
He was retired from U. S. Government, a member of the East Point Church of
Christ and Masonic Lodge #657.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Hall Smith in 1973.
Surviving are his mother, one son, Merrill Smith, Jr., of Terra Haute, IN,
one daughter, Marsha Harris of Lynchburg; one brother, Deward Smith of
Wabash, IN, five sisters, Bonnie Castle of Gary, TN, Betty Chapman of
Huntington, WV, and Mintie Pearl Delong, Carrie Music and Margarette
Honeycutt, all of Wabash; and nine grandchildren and three great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 6, in Jones-Preston Funeral Home
Chapel with Dave Flannery officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
