Jolene Adkins Smithers, 68, of Salyersville, died Friday, March 8,
2002 at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.

Born Jan. 2, 1934, in Morgan County, a daughter of the late
Clifford and Ivory Gibson Adkins, she was a homemaker and a member
of the Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Sheila Rose Adkins,
Lurlene Smith, Phyllis Smith and Cliffie Sprauge.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Lee Smithers of
Salyersville; four sons, Danny Lee Smithers of Lexington, Eddie
Dean Smithers and Jeffery Cliff Smithers, both of Salyersville, and
Lonnie Ray Smithers of Cincinnati, Ohio; a daughter, Angela J.
Slusher of Salyersville; four brothers, Jimmy Gardner Adkins,
Douglas Adkins and Scotty Adkins, all of Cincinnati, and Billy
Lewis Adkins of Salyersville; two sisters, Grace Cromer and Tammy
Reynolds, both of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren; and four great
grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by Revs. Keith Mapes and Ronald
Puckett Monday, March 11, at Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel,
Salyersville.

Burial was in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville.

Magoffin County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
