Former Johnson County resident Hazel Meade Sparks, 96, died
Thursday, May 10, at Tanbark Health Care Center, Lexington.

Mrs. Sparks was born April 9, 1905, in Johnson County, to the late
W.R. and Addie Frances Meade.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elder Cullie J.
Sparks, on July 17, 1986.

Surviving are two sons, Leland R. Sparks of Lexington and Cullie
James Sparks Jr. of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; two daughters, Betty Jean
Harp and Ida Frances Gullett, both of Lexington; four brothers,
Tom, Doug, Ken and Bob Meade, all of Paintsville; three sisters,
Garnet Branham of Paintsville and Mabel Meeks and Frances Hamilton,
both of Lexington; and 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home
Chapel, with Elders Charles Price and John R. Pelphrey officiating.

Burial followed in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
