 OAKLEY SPARKS
1899-1975

 
Oakley Sparks, 76, died Tuesday, November 4, in Highland Regional Medical
Center after a brief illness.
 
Born March 1, 1899, in Johnson County, he was the son of the late John and
Missouri Phillips Sparks. A resident of Hager Hill, he was self-employed as
a farmer and a partner in Sparks Brothers Bus Lines, a member of the United
Baptist church and served on the Board of Directors of Citizens National
Bank.
 
Surviving are his wife, Frozie Phipps Sparks, three brothers, Jarvis of
Thelma, Olma of Dayton, and Chester of Lake Placid, FL and three sisters,
Mona Roth of Lake Placid, FL, Alma Neeley and Maxie Stargill of Newport
News, VA.
 
Funeral services were held Friday, November 7 in the Jones-Preston Funeral
Home Chapel with Reverends Charles Stapleton and C. J. Sparks officiating.
 
Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville with Jones-
Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
