DAVIS BURTON STAPLETON
1923-2008
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 12, 1 p.m. at the First Christian
Church in Paintsville, Ky., for Davis Burton Stapleton, 84, of Paintsville,
who passed away Saturday, Feb. 9 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in
Prestonsburg, Ky.
Mr. Stapleton was born Aug. 20, 1923 in Boyd County, Ky., son of the late
Fielden and Mollie Burton Stapleton. He was a retired educator with Mayo
School, and was a member of the First Christian Church.
He was also preceded in death by one step-daughter, Jeanne Castle Spurlock.
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Stambaugh Stapleton of Paintsville; one
brother, John Stapleton of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Mary Lou Cotner of
Westerville, Ohio, and Eula Jean Stricklin of Jackson, Miss.; and one
grandson and two great- grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Wesley Stedtefeld and Burl Wells Spurlock,
with entombment at the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville,
Ky.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of
Paintsville.
