Francis S. "Bus" Stapleton, 82, of Flat Gap, died Friday, Oct. 13,
2006 at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
Born Sept. 24, 1924, in Johnson County, he was a son of the late
Dow and Alka Auxier Stapleton. He was a secondary education school
teacher with the Johnson County School System and WW II Marine
Corps veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Reed Stapleton of Flat Gap; two
daughters, Brenda Pappas of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Sheila Trent of
Georgetown; a son, Michael Stapleton of St. Louis, Mo., a brother,
Johnny Carson Stapleton of Flat Gap; a sister, Garnet Gay Goble of
Flat Gap; six grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 16, at Fish Trap United Baptist
Church, Staffordsville, with Elders Sammy Reed, Frankie Williams,
and Danny Williams officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under
direction of Paintsville Funeral Home, Paintsville.
