BEN F. STANSIFER FOUND IN TOURIST COURT SUFFERING CEREBRAL HEMORRHAGE
Ben F. Stanifer, 32, prominent young Prestonsburg businessman, died of a cerebral hemorrhage on Monday morning at 2:15 at an Abingdon, Virginia hospital. Accompanied by five other drivers, he left Prestonsburg Friday on his way to the car market at Bristol, Va.-Tenn.  Upon reaching Jenkins, he complained of feeling ill, but told the others to go on and he would either follow or return home.  He left Jenkins that afternoon and drove eight miles to Abingdon, Va., where he registered at a tourist court.  He told the attendants there that he was not well, but ordered dinner and was later thought to have attended a drive-in theater nearby.  When he didn't appear on Saturday, the attendant looked through his window, and seeing him lying on his bed, thought he was merely asleep.  On Sunday morning his family became alarmed at not hearing from him, and notified State Police who broadcast his description.  This was heard by the Tourist Court owner, who forcibly entered his cottage and found him unconscious.  He was taken to a hospital in Abingdon, where he died early Monday morning. Mr. Stansifer was a naval veteran of World War II, a graduate of the University of Kentucky and part owner of the Stansifer Motor Sales in Prestonsburg.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Ransdell Stansifer, daughter of Dr. Marvin Ransdell, Director, Floyd County Health Department, and Mrs. Ransdell, and his mother, Mrs. Mabel Stansifer, Walton, Ky.
