Susanne (Webb)
1875-1963
Mrs. Susanne Baldridge, well-known resident of East Point, died in a
local hospital Thursday, April 18, at 6:00 pm, following an extended
illness. Affectionately known to her many friends as “Aunt Suze,” she
was born in this county January 7, 1875, the daughter of the late
William and Isabelle Music Webb. She had lived at East Point most
of her life and was a member of the East Point Church of Christ. Her
husband, Frank Baldridge, preceded her in death. Survivors
include two sons, Tobe and Frank (Yank) Baldridge both of East Point;
four daughters, Mrs. Ada Hunt, Gallup; Mrs. May Daniels and Mrs. Lora
Ramey both of East Point; Mrs. Sue Hicks of this city. Also
surviving are twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and
three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services ere conducted at 1:30
pm, Sunday at the East Point Church of Christ with the Reverend S. C
Honeycutt as officiating minister; Burial was in the family cemetery at

BLANTON, Sanford J.
1887-1963
Sanford J. Blanton Sanford J. Blanton, 75, retired postmaster and
farmer of Low Gap, died in a local hospital at 2:00 a.m., Wednesday,
April 10. The son of John E. and Sarah Williams Blanton, he was
born in this county November 26, 1887, and had lived at Low Gap most of
his life. His wife, Hester Burchett Blanton, preceded him in
death September 1959. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Charlie
McKenzie, Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. Dencil Long, Louisville; Mrs. Eugene
Fairchild, Low Gap; a sister, Mrs. Julia Colvin, Manila. Also
surviving are twenty-four grandchildren and fourteen great-
grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m.,
Friday at the Low Gap United Baptist Church with Lonza Reed and Samuel
Colvin as officiating ministers. Burial was in the Blanton

CONLEY, Heber
1890-1963
Heber Conley Dies Friday Of Heart Attack Heber Conley, 72, local
resident and well-known building contractor, died of a heart attack in
a local hospital at 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 19, after an illness of
two weeks. Mr. Conley was born at Hager Hill, June 16, 1890, the son of
the late Henry and Katherine Rice Conley. He was a veteran of
World War I and had lived in this city most of his life. He is survived
by his wife, Mrs. Julia Hayselett Conley, whom he married March 17,
1913. Other survivors include three sons. James Heber, Robert M.
and Morris Conley all of this city; two daughters, Mrs. Glen Butcher
and Mrs. E. T. Sherman both of this city; three sisters, Mrs. Fred
Sherman, Thealka; Mrs. Ben J. Spradlin and Mrs. Virginia Preston of
this city. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, at the
First Baptist Church with the Reverend Bill Davidson and Reverend Jim
Wallace as officiating ministers. Burial was in the Mayo Cemetery.

DANIELS, Havlyn Jr.
1963
Havlyn Daniels, Jr. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at
Williamsport for Havlyn Daniels, Jr., 23, whose body was found Thursday
in a field near the outskirts of Columbus, Ohio. He had been dead five
or six weeks when a hunter discovered the body buried under brush. A
native of Williamsport, he was the son of Havlyn and May Lewis Daniel
of Columbus, Ohio, and had been employed as a factory worker in
Columbus. Other survivors include his wife, Mrs. Karen Gabber Daniels;
nine brothers, Kenneth Daniel, Williamsport; John, David, Anthony,
Timothy, Robin, Paul, Ricky, and Phillip Daniel, all of Coumbus, Ohio;
paternal grandfather, Harrison Daniel, Ashland; maternal grandfather,
Frank Lewis, Boons Camp. Services were conducted at the home of his
uncle, Hollie Daniels, with Edgar Preston as officiating
minister. Burial was in the family cemetery at Williamsport.

HAMILTON, Clay
1963
Funeral services were conducted at 12:00 Sunday, April 21 at Ophir for
Clay Hamilton, 40, who died Thursday, April 18, in Columbus, Ohio, from
a skull fracture suffered ten days earlier in a three-car collision in
Columbus. The son of Clint and Rosie Helton Hamilton of Ophir, he was
born in Morgan County and had been living in Columbus, Ohio, where he
was employed as a construction worker. Survivors include besides his
parents, his wife, Mrs. Betty Hamilton; two sons, Clayton and Clifford
Hamilton both of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Crista Ann Hamilton,
Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Jim Douglas Hamilton, Ashland; five sisters,
Bertie Cantrell, Pikeville; Tillie Cantrell, Mansfield, Ohio; Gracie
Burchett, Crockett; Ivory Pendleton, Ashland; Myrtle Pennington, Pique,
Ohio. Services were conducted at the home of his parents with Reverend
John Dulen as officiating minister. Burial was in the family

JACKSON, Ira
1891-1963
Ira Jackson Dies Sunday Of Heart Attack Ira Jackson, 72, died Sunday
evening at his home at Barnetts Creek of a heart attack. Mr.
Jackson, who lived alone, attended church services Sunday
evening. His body was found lying on the bed Monday by a neighbor
who became concerned because he hadn't been seen that day. He was born
in this county January 17, 1891, the son of the late Elisha and Patsy
Hall Jackson. He lived at Barnetts Creek for thirty years where
he was a farmer and a member of the Penecostal Church of Christ. His
wife preceded him in death thirty years ago. Surviving are three sons,
Ernie Jackson, Los Angeles, Calif.; Robert and Clyde Jackson,
both of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Virgil Arms, Hager Hill; a
brother, Henry Jackson, Coal Grove, Ohio; three half-sisters, Mrs.
George Blanton and Mrs. Earl Gullett both of Oil Springs; Mrs. Curt
Caudill, Swamp Branch. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m.,
Thursday at the home with Linzie Cyrus and Adam Marshal as officiating
ministers. Burial will be in the family cemetery at Barnetts

JOHNSON, Minnie (McCloud)
1884-1963
Mrs. Minnie Johnson, 79, lifelong resident of Hager Hill, died at her
home at 1:00 am, Saturday, April 27, from the effects of a
stroke. She had been ill for seven weeks. The daughter of the
late John and Anna Coffee McCloud, she was born at Hager Hill February
17, 1884. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. Her
husband, Frank Johnson, preceded her in death, December 1912. Survivors
include a son, Irvin Johnson, Hager Hill; two daughters, Mrs. Garland
Preston of this city; Mrs. Bill Hunley, Hager Hill; twenty
grandchildren, thirty- seven great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 pm,
Monday at the Third Street Freewill Baptist Church with F. S. VanHoose
and Claude Preston as officiating ministers. Grandsons served as
pallbearers. Burial was in the Hager Hill Cemetery. PAINTSVILLE HEARLD

MCKENZIE, Nancy Ellen (Caudill)
1902-1963
Nancy McKenzie Mrs. Nancy Ellen McKenzie, 61, resident of
Chandlerville, died in a local hospital at 1:50 p.m., Friday, April 26,
after an illness of two weeks. The daughter of Winston C. and
Sarah May Caudill, she was born in this county February 8, 1902, and
had lived at Chandlerville most of her life. She was a member of
the United Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Haskel
McKenzie; four sons, Manis and Donald McKenzie, both of Springfield,
Ohio; Carl McKenzie, Chandlerville; Kelly McKenzie of this city; three
daughters, Mrs. Inis Justice, Chandlerville; Mrs. Neva Fitch and Mrs.
Ruth Reubinall both of Springfield; two brothers, Kelly Caudill,
Stambaugh; Samuel Caudill, Ashland; five sisters, Mrs. Alta Burchett
and Mrs. Julia Daniel both of Charley; Mrs. Lyda Burchett of this city;
Mrs. Phoeba Spradlin, Stambaugh; Mrs. Frances Harwood, Ohio. Also
surviving are fifteen grandchildren. Funeral services were
conducted at 2:30 p.m., Sunday at the Hoods Fork United Baptist Church
with F. F. Rigsby, Nim Sturgill and John Pelphrey as officiating
ministers. Burial was in the Hoods Fork Cemetery.

MCKENZIE, Spicy (Tackett)
1875-1963
Spicy McKenzie Mrs. Spicy McKenzie, 87, died at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Jessie Jaynes, Turner Branch, at 10:00 p.m., Wednesday,
April 10, after a year’s illness. The daughter of the late Hiram
and Lucinda Shaver Tackett, she was born in this county September 3,
1875. She was a member of the Enterprise Baptist Church.
Her husband, Tobe McKenzie, preceded her in death thirty-one years
ago. Surviving besides her daughter, Mrs. Jaynes, are two sons,
Curtis and Francis McKenzie both of Kerz; three other daughters, Mrs.
Floyd Lemaster, Staffordsville; Mrs. Leslie Murray, Ypsilanti,
Michigan; Mrs. Logan Salyer, Kerz. Funeral services were
conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at the Enterprise Baptist Church at
Kerz with Scott Castle, Homes Evans, and Woodrow Frisby. Music
was by the Staffordsville Quartet and the Rice Quartet. Burial was in

TACKETT, Samuel
1889-1963
Samuel Tackett April 10, 1963 Samuel H. Tackett, 73, retired C. &
O. ticket agent and resident of King Addition, died in a local hospital
at 9:50 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, after and illness of two weeks. The
son of Lewis and Lydia Lemaster Tackett, he was born at Staffordsville
September 9, 1889. He was a member of the United Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Muriel Gertrude Snow Tackett, to whom
he had been married for fifty years. Other survivors include three
sons, Gilbert, Staffordsville; Elmer and Isadore Tackett both of this
city; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Meeks, Thealka; Mrs. Norman Roberts,
Ashland; a brother, Carl Tackett, Leander. Also surviving are
thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services
were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the Staffordsville United
Baptist Church with Lonza Reed, Tommie Bailey and John Pelphrey as
officiating ministers. Burial was in Highland Memorial Park.

1900-1963
Maudie Ward Mrs. Maudie Ward, 62, died at 4:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23,
at her home at Meally after a week's illness. Mrs. Ward, the daughter
of the late Bud and Nelva Pack Bowen, was born in this county August
30, 1900 and had lived at Meally for several years. Surviving are her
husband, George W. Ward; three sons, George Ward, Jr., Manila; Earl and
Arvil Ward both of Meally; three daughters, Mrs. Exer Dollin, Moon,
Ky.; Mrs. Thelma Burke and Mrs. Marie Collins both of Meally; three
brothers, Eddie Bowen, Boons Camp; Bernard Bowen, Indiana; Albert
Bowen, Wittensville; two sisters, Mrs. Maxie Ward, Williamsport; Mrs.
Clara Ward, Thealka. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and
one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at the Jones
and Preston Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., Thursday with Elzie Banks as
officiating minister. Burial will be in the Viril Fitch Cemetery

Mrs. Mary Wells, 82, resident of Van Lear, died in a local hospital at
3:15 a.m., Thursday, April 25, after an extended illness. The daughter
of the late Joe and Exer Ward Branham, she was born in this county
September 13, 1880, and had lived at Van Lear and Johns Creek most of
her life. Her husband, Walker Wells, preceded her in death November 8,
1954. Surviving are five sons, Willie Wells, Lorain, Ohio; Joe Wells,
McCam; Nevard Wells, Van Lear; Wilbur Wells, Toplin, W. Va.; Roland D.
Wells, Van Lear; two daughters, Mrs. Exer Cline, Cordel; Mrs. Alta
Huden, Wabash, Ind.; a brother, Tan Branham, Boons Camp; a sister,
Martha Ward, Boons Camp. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m,
Sunday at the Philadelphia Church of Christ with Cecil Sherman as
officiating minister. Burial was in the Wells Cemetery in this city.

Mrs. Alta Williams, 63, died in Clay County Memorial Hospital in
Cleveland, Ohio at 10:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, after an illness of
several years. The daughter of S. J. Wells and Cynthia Spriggs Wells,
she was born April 8, 1899, at Daniels Creek and had been a lifelong
resident of that community. She was a member of the Church of
Christ. Her husband, Bernard Williams, preceded her in death May 7,
1949. Surviving are five sons, Ethridge, Cleveland, Ohio; Beecher,
Detroit, Michigan; Fred, Van Lear; Harold, Montabella, Calif.; James
Allen, Cleveland, Ohio; four daughters, Mrs. Deloris Brown, Cleveland,
Ohio; Mrs. Janis Goble, Columbus, Ohio; Miss Annice Williams and Miss
Eula Mae Williams both of Cleveland, Ohio; four brothers, Brownlo,
Beecher and Ali Wells all of Van Lear; Bill Wells, Nippa; two sisters,
Goldia Horn and Tisha Brown both of Pikeville. Also surviving are
eight grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m.,
Tuesday at the Philadelphia Church of Christ with Rev. S. C. Honeycutt
as officiating minister. Burial was in the Collins Cemetery at
