Conley, 57, died April 3, 1996, at his residence in Oil Springs. Mr.
Conley
was born November 17, 1939, in Johnson County, the son of Earl and

Fairchild Conley. He was a coal miner. He is survived by one son, Mike
Conley of Oil Springs; one daughter, Paula Rowland of Oil Springs and
two
grandchildren. Burial was April 5, 1996 at the Conley Family Cemetery.

88, died April 4, 1996, at Scott County General Hospital in Georgetown.
Mrs. Conley was born April 28, 1907, in Johnson County, the daughter of
John and Lydia Burke Blair. She is preceded in death by her husband,
Linzie
Conley. She is survived by two sisters, Ruby Blair of Hager Hill and
Ruie
Kestner of Swamp Branch. Funeral services were held April 7, 1996 at
Jones-Preston
Funeral Home Chapel with David Keith Castle and Dick VanHoose
officiating.
Burial was at Conley Cemetery in Hager Hill. Jones-Preston Funeral Home

Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Neva Davis, 89, who died
April 14, 1996 at her residence in Columbus, Ohio. Mrs. Davis was born
January 26, 1907, in Martin County; the daughter of Epperson And Lillie
Mills. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Davis and son; Lee
Epperson. Surviving are one daughter, Hazel Ford of Columbus; five
sons,
Earl Davis of Versailes, Johnny Davis of Somerset, Herman Russell Davis
of West Virginia, Leonard Davis of Meally, Kenneth Davis of Columbus;
one
sister, Lesta Boyd of Tomahawk; 17 grandchildren; 26 great
grandchildren;
and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 18,
1996 at Trace Fork United Baptist Church in Tomahawk with Glenn Penix,
Claude Mollett, Kenneth Preece and Ronnie Mills officiating. Burial was
in the Boyd Cemetery in Davisport.

87, died April, 2, 1996, at his residence in Van Lear. Mr. Delong was
born
January 9 1909, in Johnson County, the son of Benjamin and Sarah
Sammons
Delong. He was a retired store merchant, coal miner and construction
worker.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Collins Delong; two sons, Larry K.
Delong
and Gerald L. Delong both of Van Lear; two daughters, Doris Ann Music
of
Marion, Indiana and Diana Marlene Burchell of Van Lear; one brother,
Willie
"Bill" Delong of Van Lear; two sisters, Nancy Stewart of Paintsville
and
Audrey Deerfield of Cleveland, Ohio; ten grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 5,1996 at Jones-Preston Funeral Home
with
Keith Cozort officiating. Burial was at Johnson County Memorial in
Staffordsville.
Jones-Preston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangments.

Hall, 55, died April 8, 1996, at her residence in Meally, Ky. Mrs. Hall
was born November 30, 1940, in Johnson County the daughter of Bill and
Omie Music Elkins. She was a nurse's aide. Surviving her are her
husband,
Eugene Hall; two sons, Keith Hall and Billy Hall both of Paintsville;
one
daughter, Kathy Craft of Meally; one brother Roy F Elkins, of West
Virginia;
and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday, April
11,1996
at 11:00 a.m. at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel. Dick VanHoose
will officiate. Burial will be at the Elkins Family Cemetery in Meally.
All arrangements are being handled by Jones-Preston Funeral Home.

68, of RR1 CR 375S, Akron, IN died Thursday, April 11, 1996 at his
residence.
He had been ill since January 1996. Mr. Honeycutt was born May 17, 1927
at Paintsville, KY to Valentine and Dollie Honeycutt. A resident of
Akron
since February 1996, he came from Blaine, KY. He married Virginia P.
Reed
April 5, 1945 at Boon's Camp, KY. He was retired in 1971 from Wabash
Alloys,
Wabash, IN. He was a member of the House of Prayer Church of Akron, IN
and Blaine, KY. Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of Akron; a
daughter,
Mrs. Darin (Linda) Fields of Wabash, IN; seven sons - Jerry (and
Brenda)
L. Honeycutt of North Manchester, Danny (and Brenda) J. Honeycutt, Jim
(and Kay) Honeycutt, Larry (and Debbie) Honeycutt, Harold (and Roxanne)
Honeycutt, all of Wabash, Bill (and Teresa) Honeycutt and Darrell (and
Sheila) Honeycutt, both of Akron; 23 grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren;
two sisters - Mrs. Erma Webb and Miss Panzie Honeycutt, both of Boon's
Camp, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents and two broth-ers.

Oscar Meek, 80,
died April 3, 1996. Mr. Meek was born December 9, 1915, in Johnson
County,
the son of Millard and Delta Murray Meek. He was a retired school
teacher,
a member of the Van Lear Masonic Lodge #885, VFW and DAV. Mr. Meek was
a World War II Army veteran having served with distinction in the
European
theater operation, the Battle of the Bulge and notably in Iceland. He
is
survived by his wife, Ruth Burke Meek; one son, Paul D. Meek of
Orlando,
Florida; two daughter, Joyce Ann Meek of West Van Lear and Sharon Meek
O'Brien of Jamestown; one brother, Omer Meek of Stanford; one sister,
Bernice
Ratliff of Hager Hill; three grandchildren, Kathryn Elizabeth Meek,

Florence Meade of Vanceburg; Fern Lyon of Blaine; Ruth McKenzie of Flat
Gap; Anna Jewell Beculhimer of Columbus, Ohio; one grandchild and one

grandchild. Services were held Tuesday, May 14, 1996, at First United
Methodist
Church. Burial followed at Highland Memorial Park in
Staffordsville.

Daniel, 62, died Wednesday, May 22, 1996, at his residence in Ashland.
He was born November 10, 1933, in Johnson County, the son of David and
Susie Gillispie Daniel. He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Meek
Daniel;
his mother; one son, Dr. James Daniel II of Ashland; two daughters,
Teresa
Metcalf of Ashland and Dr. Lisa Daniel of Louisville; one brother, Dr.
Tom Daniel of Lexington; one sister, Debbie Frazier of Ashland; and
three
grandchildren. Dr. Daniel practiced family denistry in Ashland for 38
years.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on
the Administrative Board and an active member in a number of community
organizations. Services were held Saturday, May 25, at the First United
Methodist Church in Ashland with Rev. Donald Young officiating. Burial
was in the Rose Hill Mausoleum.

of Van Lear. She is survived by two sisters, Gloria Butcher of Van Lear
and Shirley de Vora of Silver Lake, Indiana. Funeral services were held
Wednesday, May 15, 1996, at Preston Funeral Home Chapel. Burial

in the Dixon Cemetery in Staffordsville.

to the late Herbert and Mary Oma Davis Preston in Johnson County,
Kentucky.
Surviving are her husband, John Wallace Stambaugh; one half sister,
Shryl
Ramey; two aunts, Sophie Wheeler and May Preston; two nieces, Susan
Ward
and Sherry Deskins; two nephews, Danny Preston and John Martin Ramey
and
many special friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Doug
and
Edd Preston. She was baptized into the Church of Christ at an early
age.
On June 21,1957, Elizabeth and John were married in Fairborn, Ohio.
There
they made their home until 1981 when they moved to Scottsdale, Arizona.
Then in 1992 they moved to Allons, Tennessee, on Dale Hollow Lake.
Their
loving marriage was blessed two days less than thirty- nine years. She
graduated from Oil Springs High School, in 1951. Attending summer
school
to obtain college hours she began her teaching career at Chestnut
School
and then taught at Sycamore School in Johnson County, Kentucky. She
then
began teaching in Mad River Township in Dayton, Ohio and then moved to
Green County, Ohio where she was a teacher and a principal in the
Fairborn
City Schools. During these years she was also a student. She earned a
bachelor
of arts degree, a master of arts degree and many hours toward a
doctoral
degree. At the age of 47, she retired as the first woman principal in
Green
County as well as being the youngest retiree ever of the Fairborn City
School system. Being retired did not mean being inactive to her. She
was
very involved in sewing and craft clubs both in Arizona and Tennessee.
At the time of her death; she was the president of the Local Home
Demonstration
Club, a member of the F.C.E. county council and involved in the County
Fair Home Arts Activit. Services were officiated by Brother Jerry
Scott.
Burial was at the Roscoe Davis Cemetery at Davis Branch, Paintsville,
Kentucky.

in Lexington. She was born May 6, 1919, in Johnson County, the daughter
of Dewey and Nettie Caudill Helton. She is preceded in death by her
husband,
Millard Vance. She is survived by two sisters, Cynthia Whitt of
Paintsville;
Virginia Wolfe of Ironton, Ohio; and three brothers, George Helton and
Dr. John G. Helton both of Frankfort and Dewey Helton Jr. of
Nicholasville.
Services are today, July 24, at First Church of God In
Paintsville,
at ll a.m. with Rev. Matthew Doyle officiating: Burial wi11 be in

VanHoose, 51, died July 1, 1996 at his residence in Jeffersonville,
Indiana.
Mr. VanHoose was born April 13, 1945 in Johnson County, the son of

and Beatrice Marlow VanHoose. He was disabled and had been a welder
with
Jeff Boat, Inc. in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and was a U.S. Army
veteran.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Carolyn Deboard; one son, Christopher

of Jeffersonville; one brother, Chuck Marlow of Thealka; one sister,
Tammy
Marlow of Columbus, Ohio; one half-brother, Bobby Joe VanHoose of
Offutt;
three half-sisters, Donna Kestner of Wittensville, Debra Ratliff of
Tutor
Key and Ernestine VanHoose of Morgan County and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held July 3, 1996 at the Jones-Preston Funeral
Home
with Dick VanHoose officiating. Burial was at the Preston Cemetery in
Tutor

She was born April 21, 1933 in Pickaway County, Ohio, the daughter of

and Myrtle Davis Lemaster. She was preceeded in death by her, parents;
granddaughter, Cassandra; brother, Paul Lemaster; and sister, Verna
Diller.
She is survived by her husband, Gervin Wallen; two daughter's, Beverly
Cox and Brenda Rayburn both of Lockbourne; four sons, Wayne Wallen of
Columbus
Ohio, Donald Wallen of Orient, Ohio, RogRoger Wallin of Galion, Ohio;
and
Ronald Wallin of Lockbourne; l7 grandchildren; and three great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were today, Wednesday, July 17, at the Wellman Funeral
Home in Ashville, Ohio at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Floral Hills
Cemetery.

Davis, daughter of Thomas H. and Stella M.Sadler of Nippa, passed away

Key. Alka attended the Mayo College. While Alka (my loving mother) may
have left Kentucky physically and lived in New Mexico, Indiana, and

recently Xenia, Ohio, her heart and soul never left Kentucky. She

home
for her. It goes without saying that she will be missed by each of her

Home East, following a lengthy illness. He was born on January 2nd,
1925,
at Meally, the son of Sam and Malta Short Preston. He was preceded in
death
by his parents; three brothers, Don, Ervin and Herbert Preston; and one
sister, Bunia Rowe. He is survived by his wife,, Exer LeMaster Preston.
They married on August 30th,1950. He is, also, survived by a daughter
and
son-inlaw, Debra and William Noble, Beavercreek, Ohio; two
grandchildren,
Natalie M. Noble and William Ray Noble, Jr., both of Beavercreek, Ohio;
two sisters, Millard Chapman, and Ruea Preston, both of
Huntington,
West Virginia; one brother, Arthur Preston, of Meally and several
nieces
and nephews. In May of 1984, he retired as the Superintendent of
Extrusion
from the Hooven and Allison Rope Co., after 33 years of service. Also,
he was an Army Veteran of WW II. He was a member of the Miami Valley

Baptist Church, where funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday,

9th, 1996. Burial was in the Byron Cemetery, Byron, Ohio.

Faye Meade, 61,
of Chesnut, Johnson County, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 4
1996. She was born on November 15, 1935 to the late Herbert and Mattie
(Boyd) Meek. Faye is preceeded in death by her husband Estill Meade.
Surviving
are three sons, Glen Meade of Chesnut, Wayne Meadee of Chesnut and
Darrell
Meade of Beauty. Also surviving are three brothers, Millard Meade
of Van Lear, Herbert Meek, Jr. of Chesnut, and David Meek of

Two brothers and one sister are deceased. Services will be at 11 a.m
Wednesday
at the Wabash Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Venny

will officiate. Burial will be made in Memorial Lawns
Cemetery.

Lloyd E. Picklesimer Sr., 60, of South Point, died today at his
home. Mr. Picklesimer was born Sept. 16, 1936, in Catlettsburg, Ky., a
son of the late Lonnie and Naomi Coburn Picklesimer. He was a produce
packer. Surviving are three sons, Eddie Picklesimer, Lloyd Picklesimer,
Jr., and Michael Wallace, all of Columbus; a daughter, Naomi
Blankenship of Columbus; three brothers, George Picklesimer and Denver
Picklesimer, both of South Point, and Curtis Picklesimer of Toledo;
four sisters, Dolly Faye Kelley and Geraldine McKenzie, both of
Catlettsburg, Linda Picklesimer of Wayne, W. Va., and Tina Ward of
Toledo; six greandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The funeral will be
conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Neal Funeral Home in Catlettsburg by
the Rev. Kermit Webb. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial

His mother had passed away at such a young age, and he was taken in by
