April 20, at her residence. Born Feb. 15, 1941, in Johnson County, she
was the daughter of the late Jayola and Catherine Stambaugh Castle. She
was also preceded in death by four sisters, Lizzie Fannin, Betty
Borders, Madge Roberts and Marie Lowe; two brothers, Newte Castle and
James “Jimmy” Castle; and a grandchild. Survivors include her husband,
Bernett Arms; a son, Johnny Sizemore of Oil Springs; three daughters,
Edna Blanton of Oil Springs, Berniece Fitzpatrick of Leander and Tammie
Click of Swamp Branch; a sister, Shirley Wiley of Van Lear; four

April 23, at Paul B. Hall Medical Center. Born Aug. 6, 1958, at
Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late William and Imogene Wells
Arrowood. He was self-employed. Survivors include three brothers, Paul
Arrowood of Tutor Key, David Arrowood and Roger Arrowood, both of

April 18, at Pikeville Medical Center. Born Aug. 7, 1942, in Johnson
County, he was the son of the late Curtis Blair and Bethia Webb.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Blair Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn May Blair; three daughters, Melinda

JOHNSON COUNTY — Paul "Red" Anderson Daniels, 77, of Nippa, died
Monday, April 9, at his residence. Born Sept. 8, 1934, in Johnson
County, he was the son of the late Earl and Sevillar Fairchild Daniels.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil Daniels and Earl
Daniels Jr.; and four sisters, Beulah Hyden, Louella Redford, Mary
Jackson and Vivian VanHoose. Survivors include a son, Paul Michael

MAGOFFIN COUNTY — Fannie Mae Cole Farris, 60, of Salyersville, died
Thursday, April 11, at her residence. Born Jan. 11, 1952, at
Paintsville, she was the daughter of the late Silas and Maggie King
Cole. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Farris; four
sisters, Brenda Montgomery, Mable McDaniel, Mae Cole and June Cole; and
six brothers, Harold, Burl, Paul, Garland, Philip and Gerald Cole.
Survivors include a daughter, Tina Pennington of Salyersville; three
sons, Tim Farris, James Joe Farris and Ronnie Farris, all of
Salyersville; three sisters, Judy Farris and Wanda Salyer, both of
Salyersville, and Cheryl Little of Jackson; two brothers, Hurlis Cole
and Silas Cole Jr., both of Salyersville; eight grandchildren; and a

Diana Lynn Guerry, died on April 3, 2012 at Bayfront Hospital due to a
heart attack. Born Diana L. Music on Sept. 3, 1942 in Paintsville ,
KY., Diane and family moved to St. Petersburg in 1957 from Inez, KY.
Her husband, Robert T. Guerry, died from Cancer in 2010. After
graduating from St. Pete College, she worked at and retired from the
Pinellas County Health Dept. Diana is survived by her two sons, Mike
& Steven Guerry; daughter, Melissa Gagnon, as well as 6
grandchildren, Christina Guerry Wilder, Johnathan & Thomas Guerry,
David Silva, Danielle Benson and Gabrielle Gagnon; brother, Steve Music
and nephew, Michael Music. A memorial will be held at a later date for

JOHNSON COUNTY — Sam Hicks Jr., 47, of Sitka, died Monday, April 16, at
his residence. Born Sept. 22, 1964, at Paintsville, he was the son of
Sam Hicks Sr. of Paintsville and Leah Harris Franklin of Prestonsburg.
He was an auto parts manager. He was preceded in death by a brother,
Michael Joe Hicks. Additional survivors include his step-mother,
Deloris Hicks; and two brothers Jeff Franklin of Prestonsburg and
Matthew H. Hicks of Paintsville. Funeral services were Thursday, April

April 30, at Paul B. Hall Medical Center, Paintsville. Born July 30,
1951, at Tucumseh, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Cal and
Christine Poe Jordan. She was a homemaker and a member of the Freewill
United Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffery
Walters; and three brothers, Bob Jordan, Bill Jordan and Melvin
Fletcher. Survivors include her husband, Harry Thomas Holbrook; a
daughter, Rhonda Patrick of Salyersville; two brothers, Ronnie Jordan

OHIO — Mairiam Lilly Loring, 81, of Grove City, Ohio, died Sunday,
April 1. Born Dec. 25, 1930, at Van Lear, she was the daughter of the
late Elzie and Alta Pelphrey. She was a member of the Grove City Moose
Lodge, retired from Anheuser Busch and a Teamsters Local #213 member.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John H. Loring; five
sisters, Freda Davis, Eula Bauer, Rose Marie Moore, Opal Hitchcock and
Jewell Snow; and three brothers, James Edward, Otchel and Howard
Pelphrey. Survivors include a daughter, Sharen Siddle; a grandchild;

VanHoose. He worked for CSX Railroad and was a U.S. Army veteran. He

26, at Paul B. Hall Medical Center. Born July 4, 1923, at Culloden,
W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Creath and Ida Lovejoy Berry.
She was retired from the Paintsville Board of Education. She was also
preceded in death by her husband, Max Louis Ward; a daughter, Susie
Ward; a brother, Casey Berry; and a sister, Helen Berry Eckert.
Survivors include two sons, Gregory Ward of El Paso, Texas, and Berry
Joe “B.J.” Ward of Paintsville; a brother, Clyde Berry of Old Hickory,
Tenn.; two sisters, Juanita White of Summerville, S.C., and Ruth Young
of Pawley’s Island, S C.; four grandchildren; and six great-
