Walter was saved December 13, 1984, at work in Martin County. He was a member of Emily Northup Church, Louisa. He spoke often, over the past weeks and during his last days, “I’m ready for Jesus to take me on quickly, for I’m tired of this old sinful world, I’m patiently waiting for the doors of Heaven to open, take Jesus’ hand, Oh, what a day that will be for my “Saviour” I will see, I’ve ran my race, and so ready to go to Heaven. To all the people I’ve known, listen, there’s only two places to go, once the death angel comes; Heaven to be with Jesus for ever more or Hell to be eternally with the Devil and his workers. It will be a very sad, unforsaken place, of fire and brimstone, to continually consume those forever, no escape, no pardons. Heaven and Hell are real, take this my words very seriously. Call on Jesus now, your election sure and true, are the most important decisions ever to be made. Live Your life for Jesus.” Walter was born to the union of his parents, Walter Hubert Vanhoose and Margaret Vanhoose, Aug. 24, 1946, at Paintsville. Also surviving is only son, Rodney Preston Vanhoose, daughter-in- law, Lynette Boyd Vanhoose; a grandchild, Walter “Kyle” Vanhoose, who he thought of as a special gift from God. He was so proud of the fine man Kyle has become, no true words could describe their relationship, “They were best buddies.” They talked often, most importantly about Heaven and Jesus. They worked together, laughed together, hunted, fished and always enjoyed each other’s company. Walter left his only grandson a great legacy. Also surviving are two sisters, Glenda B. Childers of Richardson and Patricia Rutherford of Ashland; a host of nephews; two great-nephews; two great- nieces; and many friends and family, too many to name.
