MARCUS ADAMS
1887-1969

Retired coal miner Marcus Adams, 81, died Friday, November 7 in a
local hospital after an extended illness.

Born in Johnson County on November 12, 1887, he was the son of the
late Hayden and Nannie McFaddin Adams. He was a resident of Collista
at the time of his death and was a member of the Collista Freewill
Baptist church.

His wife, Mary Edna Adams, preceded him in death in 1964.

Survivors include two sons, Mitchell of Staffordsville and Richard of
Ashland; two daughters, Mrs. Stewart Conley of Van Lear and Mrs.
James Jasper of Lynco, WV; six grandchildren and five great
grandchildren.

Additional survivors include three brothers, Lester Adams of
Paintsville, Charlie Adams of Jenkins and Den Adams of Minford, OH,
and a sister, Mrs. Jane Conley of Columbus, OH.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, November 9, in the Collista
Freewill Baptist church with Claude Preston and Charlie Lemaster the
officiating ministers. Interment followed in the Cumbo Cemetery at
West Van Lear.

The Jones-Preston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
