FONNIE ARROWOOD
1988

The family, relatives, neighbors and friends were shocked and
deeply grieved by the sudden passing of Fonnie Arrowood, Saturday
afternoon, May 7, 1988, in the Saint Mary's Hospital, Huntington,
where all that human hands could do was done to save his life.
God called him home at the early age of 45 years, 7 months, and 11
days.

He leaves the following survivors: his wife, Connie, one
daughter, Stephanie, of Marion, Indiana; two sons, Walt and Eddie;
his father and mother, Walter and Velma Banks Arrowood, of Meally;
two grandchildren, Jarren and Bitttence; his sister, Penny
Gorrell, of Meally; his grandmother, Alice Banks, of Meally; and
many, many other relatives, neighbors, and friends who knew and
loved him.

He enlisted in the United States Army August 17, 1961, and served
his country overseas for two years and nine months. He won several
medals of honor during that time. His occupation was a heavy
equipment mechanic and at the time of his death he was self-
employed. He was a devoted Christian and very faithful to the
church. He was always willing and ready to assist the church in
any way. He was an active member of Bassin' Buddies, and a lover
of the great outdoors, where he spent many enjoyable hours fishing
with his buddies.He was a coach in the Buddy Basketball League for
the Johnson County area. He spent many hours with boys ages
9through 12, teaching them the fundamentals of basketball, but
more importantly, he taught them how to play the game of life. He
was highly respected by all the members of the league.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 10, in Little Mud Lick
Church of God, Staffordsville, with Rev. Tobe Wheeler Jr. and Rev.
James Fillers officiating.

Graveside serviceswere conducted by DAV Chapter 136.

Burial was in Johnson County Memorial Cemetery at Staffordsville,
with Paintsville Funeral Home in charge ofarrangements.Bassin
Buddies served as pallbearers.
