ALONZO BLAIR
1883-1955

Alonzo Blair, 72, a well known Merchant of West Van Lear, died
Sunday morning (Jul.31 1955) at his home following an illness of a
year.

Born March 1, 1883, in Johnson County, he was a member of the
Freewill Baptist Church.

His first wife, Laura Friend Blair, preceded him in death in 1918.

He later married Elizabeth Hitchcock, who survives.

Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Don J. Blair,
Baltimore, MD., James M. Blair, Hewitt, W. VA, Rudolph Blair,
Springfield, O; one daughter, Mrs. Lucky Combs. West Van Lear; two
brothers, Lincoln Blair, Hagar Hill, and Estill Blair, Charleston,
W. VA.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the home with the
Rev. Homer Willis officiating.

Burial was made in the Cumbo Cemetery of West Van Lear under the
direction of Jones and Preston Funeral Home.
