John E. Bland, 78, of Paintsville, died Sunday, Nov. 17, at Paul B. Hall
Medical Center, Paintsville.

Born Jan. 6, 1925, at Paintsville, he was the son of the late Morris E.
and Norma Jean George Bland. He was a dean at a college, a member of the
American Legion and the First Baptist Church of Paintsville, and a U.S.
Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Nadine Stinson Bland; a daughter, Stacy
Howard of Paintsville; a sister, Renavey Frisby of Paintsville; and a
grandchild.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Paintsville
Funeral Home Chapel, with Harry N. Frisby officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, under
direction of Paintsville Funeral Home, Paintsville.
